Easy Peach Daiquiri Recipe (Plus 4 Fun Variations)

As a farming family, we love showcasing the rich flavor of our juicy peaches in unique ways, including this peach daiquiri recipe! From the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains at Chiles Peach Orchard to our sky-high perch atop Carter Mountain, we know the nuances of growing (and enjoying) summer’s favorite fruit.

Few things compare to enjoying a sun-ripened peach at the peak of picking season, especially in a frozen peach daiquiri. At its core, a daiquiri is a cocktail with rum, sweetener, and citrus juice. Scale this easy peach daiquiri recipe to fit your needs—it just takes five minutes, after all!

Ingredients

Servings: 4-5 daiquiris

  • 4 cups of fresh peaches, peeled
  • 3 limes, juiced
  • 8 ounces white rum
  • 3 cups ice
  • 3 Tbsp honey
  • Mint to garnish

Adding fresh peaches allows the fruit to shine, much more so than your run-of-the-mill frozen or canned varieties, which can be loaded with preservatives and extra sugar. Of course, if you want to enjoy this recipe later, you can freeze your local pickings for up to a few months.

When picking up your fresh-picked peaches, remember to stop by our Country Store & Bakery for all your entertaining necessities, too! In fact, we used our very own pitchers, reusable silicone straws, and peachy tea towels to make this recipe video.

Mint, honey, peaches, limes, and rum all in a row

Instructions

1. Prepare your ingredients

First, peel, pit, and chop your peaches to make sure everything will blend evenly. Our tips for cooking with peaches will help you peel them in a jiffy,

Second, juice the limes and measure 8 ounces of rum, 3 cups of ice, and 1 tablespoon of honey.

The key to this peach daiquiri recipe is testing and adjusting to your taste buds. Ripe, juicy peaches are very sweet. Consider trying a sip of your daiquiri before adding the honey!

2. Add ingredients to a blender

Start with freshly picked peaches, followed by rum, lime juice, ice, and honey.

If you’re looking for locally-sourced honey, we’re big fans of Falling Bark Farms from our Country Store & Bakery!

3. Blend

Blend your mixture for about 30 seconds or until smooth. The ideal daiquiri should have a smooth texture that coats the palate without being overly thick or watery. This allows the bright, zingy flavors of your fresh peaches to star in every sip.

If your mixture is a tad too thick, add some water or extra rum. If it’s too thin, add more ice.

4. Serve

When it comes time to serve up your peach daiquiris, you have plenty of options for glassware. While traditionally served in a hurricane glass, we’re happy with a few trusty mason jars. To garnish, add a sprig of mint. You can add a slice of peach or lime to the rim of your glass, too!

5. Enjoy!

Now it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Of course, remember to drink responsibly! This recipe makes five servings, making it perfect for sharing with friends and family.

Peach Daiquiri Recipe Variations

There are plenty of ways to make this recipe your own, so don’t be afraid to get creative in the kitchen! To turn this peach daiquiri recipe into a mocktail, simply substitute 1 cup of orange juice for the white rum.

When experimenting with different fruits, we’ve got a few suggestions!

#1 Strawberry Daiquiri

For this springtime variation, switch out peaches for strawberries. Sip this sweet strawberry daiquiri as early as April, when the first pick-your-own strawberries often ripen at Chiles Peach Orchard!

#3 Crescent Simples Daiquiri

A chili lime spice rimmed peach daiquiri beside a bottle of Tajin spice blend

#4 Chili Lime Rim Daiquiri

Add a sugar and chili lime spice rim (we like Tajin) to the glass of your peach daiquiri to bring some extra kick.

Peach Salad Recipes to Try This Summer

As experienced peach farmers, we know plenty of ways to enjoy this ripe, juicy fruit. While we always enjoy a sweet treat (like Peach Cobbler Scones), we also love letting a fresh peach shine in a nourishing salad.

Quick and Easy Peach Prep

Most peach salad recipes don’t require much preparation. However, that doesn’t mean you can get off without peeling these fuzzy fruits! While peeling may feel like a difficult task, you can make quick work of it with a few simple steps:

  • Boil a large pot of water
  • Lightly score peaches with an “X”
  • Blanch peaches for two minutes
  • Place peaches in an ice bath
  • Peel the skin off – no knife required!

Of course, the peeling is well worth the effort. Peaches are known to improve heart health, digestion, eyesight, and immune system health. With so many benefits, it’s easy to enjoy them in any dish guilt-free!

Remember: if you’re going to enjoy your peaches fresh, make sure to wash them first!

Summer Outlook for Chiles Peach Orchard

We’re so grateful for all of the community support that helped our family farm get through the first few months of the season. Thank you, and we can’t wait to see you at the Orchard this summer.

Safety Policies

We are taking the COVID-19 situation seriously and have implemented the following policies for the 2020 season. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we strive to comply with state and federal mandates and recommendations and provide the safest experience we can at this time.

Protective Masks

Our staff working inside will be wearing masks in areas where we come into contact with customers.

Disclaimer: We are not air-conditioned, so when temperatures reach 85 or higher, masks become optional for our staff, who are wearing them for hours on end.

Guests and customers are requested to wear masks or face coverings when coming inside our markets, restrooms, or other indoor spaces.

Social Distancing

We ask that you maintain at least 6 feet of social distance between yourself and other parties while you are here.

Regular Sanitation

Our staff is sanitizing high touchpoints, including door handles, picnic tables, restroom fixtures, etc. every hour. We ask that you do your part by making sure you remove your trash from tables. And please call our attention to any areas that seem to need a little love!

Sorry, No Pets Allowed

We have made the difficult decision to no longer allow pets on our property. There are several reasons for this.

We have been certified in our growing practices by several local, national, and global organizations.  These certifications do not permit animals in our growing areas.

While most pet owners are good owners, we’ve had a lot of issues with dogs being off-leash and uncontrolled. We also end up cleaning up after a lot of dogs whose owners don’t take on that responsibility. We’ve also seen a lot of owners who let their dogs sit on our picnic tables. We are trying very diligently to keep our facility clean and sanitary, especially this year.

No Outside Food or Drink

Food and beverage may not be brought in.

Cool off with soft-serve ice cream: order your favorite flavor at the window and enjoy your cup or waffle cone while seated in the shade of our pavilion. We also sell bottled waters, ciders, fudge, and of course our homemade cider donuts.

The Bold Rock Tap Room is currently open Wednesdays through Sundays. You may purchase hard cider to-go or to enjoy on-site. ABC Law does not permit any other alcohol on our property.

Prince Michel Winery is no longer on site.

PYO Fruit Pre-pay

We are not weighing any fruit this year to minimize contact.

You will pre-pay for pick your own fruit, and we provide the container. We are not permitting any bags or baskets from home. If you are picking fruit, please leave your backpacks, purses, or tote bags in the car as they are not permitted in the orchard.

Please follow all signage and instructions from staff.

For pre-picked fruit, we have them conveniently packaged in many quantities, from “just a few” to “a whole bunch”!

Limited Event Capacity

We are limiting the number of folks participating in our events this year, including our children’s programs, evening music series, and special events. Most events are by ticket only; see our calendar for details for each event.

Please review all of our visitor guidelines before your visit.

It’s Apple Season

Peach season 2019 has come to a close; it’s apple time!

Goodbye, Summer Peaches

Thank you to everyone who visited our family farm and Mother Nature for a fabulous peach season. Favorable winter and summer weather made for delicious peaches this year. Unlike some previous unlucky years, we didn’t lose much of the peach crop to frost and freezing temperates over the winter. In summer, peach trees prefer lots of sun, not too much rain, and comfortable temperatures, which is exactly the weather we had in Central Virginia. Sun-ripened peaches, indeed!

Peaches Now in Season + Summer Outlook

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the peaches are ripe, just waiting to be picked!

Pick-your-own peaches now available

Peach picking season is officially upon us and we are beyond excited. Pick-your-own peaches started a tad early this year, kicking off with a peach variety that we’re especially happy to see because the frost destroyed last year’s crop of this particular early variety.

Pick-your-own yellow peaches are expected to last through August. Donut peaches are still a few weeks away and we anticipate a lovely crop.

Pick-your-own flowers and vegetables coming soon

We’ve been busy tending the flower gardens and vegetable patch! Throughout the summer, our farm market will offer a wide variety of vegetables including zucchini, green beans, bell peppers, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, corn, and tomatoes. (And, yes, we know tomatoes are technically a fruit.)

Flower fans will be delighted by fresh-picked bouquets available in the market and pick-your-own opportunities. We’ve planted zinnias, cosmos, asters, and, a crowd favorite, sunflowers!

Peach Cobbler Scone Recipe

Sweet, juicy peaches may be the ultimate treat on a hot summer day, but these peach cobbler scones will keep you cozy when it’s cold and rainy too! Recipe serves 8. Be sure to follow us on Facebook for more recipes and ideas.

Peach Cobbler Scone ingredients

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes
  • 1/4 cup vegetable shortening, cold and cut into cubes (if you don’t have shortening you can certainly substitute unsalted butter)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk, cold
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 ripe peach, sliced thin
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk, for brushing
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Mixing bowl with dry ingredients and wooden spoon

Step 1

Place a rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 400 degrees F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.

In a mixing bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in shortening and butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Use your hands to break the fat cubes into the dry ingredients. Some of the fat bits will be the size of peas while others will be the size of oat flakes.

Mixing Bowl with wet and dry ingredients

Step 2

In another bowl, combine egg, milk, and vanilla, and beat lightly with a fork. Add the liquid to the flour mixture all at once, stirring gently until it forms a soft dough.

Ball of dough on floured surface

Step 3

Turn the dough out onto a floured board and knead about 15 times. If the butter has warmed too much in the making of the dough, shape the batter into a dish, wrap in plastic wrap, and let rest in the fridge for 15 minutes. If the butter is still cool, shape the dough into a disk and, on a well-floured surface, roll dough to a little less than 1/2-inch thickness, slightly thinner than a biscuit dough that you would cut biscuits from.

Rolled out dough with peach slices

Step 4

Brush half of the rolled-out dough with buttermilk. Arrange peach slices in a single layer across the buttermilk-moistened dough. Sprinkle with half of the cinnamon sugar mixture. Carefully fold the empty side of dough over the peach sliced layer, pressing together gently.

Large scone dough brushed with cinnamon sugar

Step 5

Add a bit of flour to your hands and press the edges of the dough in, creating more of a rectangle shape than a half circle shape. Using a floured knife, slice dough into eight even pieces, or bake it as one large scone!

Place the scones on prepared baking sheets, leaving about 1 1/2-inches of room around each scone for spread while baking. If dough has warmed and feels mushy, place in the fridge for 20 minutes to re-chill. Before baking, brush each scone top with buttermilk and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon sugar.

Scone coming out of the oven

Step 6

Bake scones for 15-18 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 15 minutes before serving. Scones are best served warm, on the day they are baked, with softened butter.

Orchard Outlook: Peaches

Pretty as a Peach

It’s been a rainy spring, but drier weather and juicy peaches are just around the corner here at the orchard. The first peaches of the season are already coloring up nicely and will be ready for picking any day now—and we’ll have a variety of peaches available all summer, all the way through Labor Day. Peach picking or not, the orchard is looking beautiful!

Be sure to follow us on Twitter @ChilesPeachOrch for the latest orchard updates (#whatspickingCPO).

The What’s-What

Clingstone peaches are just what they sound like: peaches that “cling” to their pits. These peaches are often used for pickling, but they are delicious no matter how you slice ‘em. These peaches are already ripening up for picking.

Freestone peaches, or peaches with flesh that separates easily from the stone, ripen later in the summer, and are easier to work with for canning and freezing.

Goodbye, Strawberries—It’s Peach Season

Goodbye, Strawberries

One of the longest strawberry seasons in recent history has drawn to a close. The berry fields have been picked bare, their fruit gone into jams, pies, and children’s snack packs. There’s nothing like a red, ripe strawberry and we can’t wait to welcome berry-lovers back to the orchard for new year’s crop of pick-your-own strawberries next May.
