Saturday 5/11: Bailey Hayes – Anything from country, to classic rock, to pop/soul, to folk, original music and more! The energy and melodies will get you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside, and maybe even get you on the dance floor.

Sunday 5/12: The Farmhouse Blues Band – Fronted by Jake Washburne, plays a timeless blend of American blues and rock.

Saturday 5/18: Righteous Roots – Roots rock project based on the East Coast. Infusing elements of rock, reggae, and country, performing a soulful blend of original songs and memorable covers.

Sunday 5/19: The Red Miller Band – Playing blues, rock & soul.

Saturday 5/25: Landan Frazier – Playing a variety of music including, but not limited to, country, classic rock, southern rock, folk, pop, and originals.

Sunday 5/26: Classic Road – Described as “a full band of two people,” Jerry’s lead vocals, percussion, and multi-instrument keyboard sounds coupled with Stephen’s guitar, bass, and backing vocals combine to create nuanced renditions of classic tunes that are sure to make you smile and get your feet tapping.


June

Saturday 6/1: Vintage Silk – Dave Shilling and Jeanie Bell have been performing together as Vintage Silk since 2012. Renowned for their vocal harmonies, the duo is best appreciated for their Folk Revival tunes.

Sunday 6/2: Ramona Martinez feat. Brooks Hefner – Country singer-songwriter who pulls inspiration from her own life to write about heartbreak and hangovers accompanied by a pedal steel player.

Saturday 6/8: Tara Mills Trio – Inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains and the rich musical traditions tied to them. Original blue ridge mountain folk.

Sunday 6/9: James 3 Duo – Enjoy an afternoon of Country, Rockabilly, and blues.

Saturday 6/15: Theocles – Taking the stage with nothing but a guitar, a loop pedal, and a mic, he uses his soulful voice to carry the audience through a range of emotions, from tearful ballads to pop bangers.  

Sunday 6/16: Her Checkered Past Trio – A fun arrangement of acousitc guitar, ukulele and drums, this group loves harmonizing on each other’s songs and arranging those of Lucinda Williams, David Bowie, Prince, Patty Griffin, Joni Mitchell, Elvis Costello (to name a few).

Saturday 6/22: Midlife Crisis Band – Acoustic trio performing in Central VA since 2006, the Midlife Crisis Band play oldies, country, folk, motown and even many pop covers & originals.

Sunday 6/23: The Porch Dogs – Rock, pop, oldies, Americana, blues, country. Everything but opera. Two guys on a mission to entertain and have fun!

Saturday 6/29: Clara George & Friends – A sought after pianist, guitarist, banjoist, and vocalist and can be found working as a hospice musician, songwriter, performer, utility musician, and teacher.

Sunday 6/30: Richelle Claiborne & Tucker Rogers – Richelle & Tucker will warm your spirits as the sun goes down with their acoustic set of old favorites and new tunes.



July

Sunday 7/14: Mojo Pie – Mojo Pie is Susan Munson and Frank Bechter on acoustic guitar and bass, playing their fun filled originals and eclectic covers. Their voices meld in rich harmony and they’ll have you singing along with them!

Saturday 7/20: 2Wishes Trio – When Harry met Sally, there was a lot of confusion… But when Mike and Joy met, and sang together, it was instant musical harmony! 

Sunday 7/21: Boxed Lunch Acoustic Trio – Boxed Lunch is a Charlottesville-based indie rock/folk band led by the songwriting duo Justin Storer and Joel Streeter. Known for their killer vocal harmonies and catchy songs, Boxed Lunch recalls classic 70s bands like Fleetwood Mac.

Saturday 7/27: Mo & Mary Mac –  A musical duo from Culpeper, VA, dedicated to spreading good vibes through heartfelt music!

Sunday 7/28: Jim Richardson Band – This trio cooks up a bluesy blend of subversive, folk-influenced Americana.   


August

Saturday 8/3: Theocles – Taking the stage with nothing but a guitar, a loop pedal, and a mic, Theocles uses his soulful voice to carry the audience through a range of emotions, from tearful ballads to pop bangers.

Saturday 9/7: Skylar Green – An acoustic indie/alternative musician, guitarist, and singer, Skylar Green will captivate you with her voice and unique covers.

Sunday 9/8: Nicholas Charles – Nicholas Charles is a singer-songwriter from the Hampton Roads area. He incorporates a wide range of influences and styles. Drawing inspiration from blues, folk, R&B, and rock, his sets will include covers from musicians such as Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, and Pink Floyd.

Sunday 9/22: Carter Freeman – Self-described as ragged folk music, Carter’s songs and voice conjure an image of a ragged man carrying a tattered guitar case, bottle o’ Whiskey in hand, along an old dusty road.

9th Annual Fall Into Fun Festival (2021)

It’s time to celebrate the arrival of autumn!

All for fun, and fun for fall! Join us on Saturday and Sunday to celebrate the opening of our pumpkin patch, pick your own apples, and enjoy other fall-themed entertainment.

On Saturday, the Men of Mt. Moriah Methodist Church will be making apple butter the old-fashioned way during the morning and mid-afternoon. Plus, Skyline Country Cloggers will return to the orchard pavilion for clogging demonstrations at 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM.

The fun continues on Sunday with live music from Tommy Wood—a Ruckersville-based country music artist—from 2–4 PM. We can’t wait to see you there! No tickets required!

Celebrate America’s 245th Birthday with us!

July 4, 2021 | 6–10 PM

Get the best seat in town for this year’s local Independence Day fireworks shows, including the Celebrate US spectacular! In addition to food from Vision BBQ, Heard, and 106 Street Food, we’ll have ice cream, apple cider donuts, and other sweet snacks. Adult beverages, such as patriotic wine slushies, are available in the Carter Mountain Wine Shop and Bold Rock Tap Room. Don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes for live music from Root Cellar Remedy!

  • Carter Mountain is not setting off fireworks—we’re providing a view of local fireworks.  We have no control over the quality and length of the fireworks shows in the area.

  • Outside food and beverages are not permitted. No smoking on property. We don’t permit tailgating in our parking lots.
  • No dogs or other pets permitted.

Wind Down Wednesdays [2021]

Unwind with acoustic music and a stunning Charlottesville sunset on Wednesday evenings during the summer.

We’ll have a food truck on hand each week (see below for lineup).  In addition, we’ll have grab-and-go food in our Apple Barn, plus ice cream, cider donuts, slushies, and other sweet snacks. Adult beverages are available in the Carter Mountain Wine Shop and Bold Rock Tap Room. No food or drink may be brought in.

Thursday Evening Sunset Series [2021]

Join us for live music, food trucks, Carter Mountain Wine, Bold Rock Hard Cider, and the best view of a sunset from anywhere around! Event admission begins at 5 PM with music starting at 6 PM. Bring lawn chairs and blankets, or come early for a picnic table on our terrace or decks.

Blossoms & Bees

How do strawberries grow and develop? What role do bees play in our environment? These are the kinds of questions we’ll answer if you join us at our Blossoms and Bees children’s program!

We’ll take a scenic wagon ride through the strawberry patch to see all the strawberry plants and blossoms. Afterward, we can treat our taste buds to some fresh honey and strawberry frozen yogurt!

Sessions at 11am & 2pm.

8.00/person. Please arrive about 15 minutes early for registration. No reservations required, though if you are bringing a group, we’d love to know in advance to prepare.

Happy Birthday, America! [2020]

Celebrate America’s 244th Birthday with us! – SOLD OUT

The Fourth of July looks a little different this year. We are doing it COVID-style.

We will be open from 9AM–5PM for lunch, peaches, apple cider donuts, and free live music from 1-4PM by FarAway Band.

We’ll close to the public at 5PM. Everyone will head off the mountain, and our ticketed event begins at 6PM

While many local fireworks demonstrations have been canceled this year, a local group has come together in our area to raise money for a fireworks show that will be set off very near Carter Mountain.  We’ve decided to open our venue for a ticketed event for a limited number of people. We just can’t do the “tons of people smushed up together” during this time of social distancing.

So…….

  • Feast on delicious all-American food, cold refreshing sweet cider, and hard cider (all available for purchase).
  • Leave your pets, outside food, and outside drink at home (all prohibited).
  • Promise to social distance, and wear a mask or face-covering when you are inside our market, in the Bold Rock Hard Cider Cellar, or in the restrooms.
  • Rock out to live acoustic music from 6-8:45pm by Local Vocals.
  • And enjoy the local fireworks display, which is scheduled to start around 9:15PM.  (PLEASE NOTE:  WE ARE TOLD BY THE ORGANIZERS THAT THE FIREWORKS WILL BE QUITE LOUD AT OUR LOCATION – MIGHT WANT EAR PROTECTION FOR YOUNG ONES OR THOSE SENSITIVE TO LOUD NOISES)

A portion of the event proceeds will go to the Fireworks Fund. (If you are so inclined to donate to the fund yourself, here is the link for that)

CARTER MOUNTAIN ORCHARD and BOLD ROCK HARD CIDER HAVE NO CONTROL OVER AND ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE QUALITY OR LENGTH OF TIME OF ANY LOCAL FIREWORKS SHOWS.  WE ARE ONLY PROVIDING A LOCATION TO VIEW THE FIREWORKS.

Thursday Evening Sunset Series [2020]

It’s the high note of your week!

Join us for dinner, live music, and the best view of a sunset in Charlottesville! Bring lawn chairs and blankets, or come early for a picnic table on our terrace or decks.  Social Distancing must be practiced at all times.  Please wear a mask when inside our market, tap room, and restrooms.

Admission starts at 5PM
Dinner served 5:30-8:30 PM

  • Our Mountain Grill will be open with delicious dinner selections. Our menu varies from week to week and offers choices such as pulled pork BBQ, chicken salad, hot dogs, and vegetarian options. For dessert, don’t forget apple cider donuts and apple pie! Visit the Apple Barn for cider slushies, ice cream, and other snacks and treats.
