Sarah is drawn to images of nature and themes of parenting. She loves incorporating a surprising element in her jewelry, such as a hidden picture or symbol. Her work uses a variety of mediums, including pure and sterling silver, leather, antique paper, fabric, and semi-precious stones. Her jewelry is hand-forged, soldered, and polished. She finishes some of her pieces with an antiqued patina.
About Sarah Canady
Sarah Canady grew up in western Albemarle County and can trace her Albemarle family roots back to the 1700s. After graduating from James Madison University with concentrations in ceramics, jewelry, and metalwork, she returned home to teach art in several local schools. Sarah is married to her best friend, Doug Granger, with whom she has blended a family of seven children.
